The BTS Audiovisual in Bayonne/Biarritz is a two-year technical program open to students after the bac (the French high school diploma). Created in 1985, it is one of the oldest audiovisual BTS programs in France. It combines technical training, artistic culture and hands-on projects to prepare students for careers in the audiovisual industry.
The BTS Audiovisual in Bayonne/Biarritz offers three options, each preparing students for a different role in audiovisual production.
Sound Professions (12 students per class) trains students to record, process and mix sound. They learn to prepare and install sound equipment, set up intercom systems, run low power PA and manage audio files and metadata for a production.
Engineering and Equipment Operation Techniques (24 students per class) is for those who enjoy the technical backbone of live and recorded productions. Students learn to configure and operate sets of equipment, manage signals and source switching, carry out live effects and check finalized products.
Editing and Post-Production Professions (12 students per class) focuses on the image. Students analyze and sort footage, build edits using storytelling techniques, prepare soundtracks for mixing, create compositing and multilayer sequences, and handle the final finishing.
Internships abroad
Internships are an important part of the program: 6 weeks in the first year and 5 weeks in the second. Since the 2025–2026 school year, thanks to Erasmus+ and OFAJ (Franco-German Youth Office) grants, students can complete their internship abroad, in places such as Berlin, the Canary Islands or the Spanish Basque Country.
